Getting music these days..

Hi dee ho,

isnt this the question on everyone's mind these days. Well here are a few "suggestions" that I've come across

i) www.mp3fusion.net

This one is plain and simple, search for the artist or song title, go to the link and then "save target as". couldnt get any simpler, but the selections suck.

ii) www.g2p.org

This one's quite ingenius. It uses the google engine to search files that are being shared on networks. In other words, u access shared files via google. Coolness. But the interface isnt noob frenly, so ya gotta try ur luck with the search results. keep clicking until u get to a point where the next click opens the music file. That means ya gotta go back one step and "save target as".

Database is fairly huge, considering google searches everything from your grandmother's drawers to Jupiter.

iii) www.sogou.com

Chinese version of G2P. For the uneducated (Chinese illiterate), choose the 3rd option from the left. That's the music section.

After that search like normal and u'll bring up the results. Click on the icon that looks like a "download" icon. Then choose the lower option (the one with one arrow" only.

Database is pretty decent. U get quite a lotta hits with this

iv) www.multiply.com
This works more like a blog. You have to start an account with www.multiply.com first tho. Once done, click on the search icon, top of your multiply page.

Then select "music" from the search fields and type in your search term. Most of the links should bring you to the song that you want.

This is the most noob friendly of the above and I highly recommend it if you are jus music surfing. This is because the multiply community usually uploads tons of songs in the same playlist. Also, the links are usually all working

The database is probably smaller than most of the above, except for mp3fusion, so you might not find the songs that you are looking for.

Alritey! Have fun! Next time round, i MIGHT post my movie download links.. haha!

How you do that is do download the Veoh player and then click "download" on the web page. The player will download the movie to mydocument/my videos/veoh. Then u can keep it/ burn it/ watch it...
The download speed is sometime incredible. We've reached speeds of 150kb/s before, so we got our movies in 1 hr. Try it out!

Protege
http://www.veoh.com/videos/v309180zwR4Cqpr

I havent' watched this myself... think its pretty good.. excuse the bad engrish review. Was a local dude reviewing. Boosting.... sigh.

Boosting some of Hong Kong's film industry biggest with producer Peter Chan (Perhaps Love) and director Derek Yee (C'est La Vie and One Night in Mongkok), "Protégé" looks set to become this Hong Kong biggest film this Chinese New Year. The Protégé here is Nick (Daniel Wu), trained to take over Jong's (Andy Lau) heroin trafficking business, but is in fact a police officer. His inner conflict is between the loyalty towards his 'teacher', and duty towards his job and justice. Things get more complicated when he falls in love with a heroin-addict (Zhang Jingchu), forced to detriment by her husband (Louis Koo). The story of an undercover police would remind many of "Infernal Affairs", especially when both stars Andy Lau. The difference lies in its subtlety. While there are still police chase scenes and fights, the focus of the film is on the character development more than its actions.Daniel has proved his acting abilities in One Night In Mongkok. Though he is playing the lead role in "Protégé", his character lacks of a very distinct quality to showcase his acting skills. This is so for Andy Lau's 'baddie' role as well, and you can't put across strongly how you should feel for him. Anita Yuen has very little screen time, perhaps due to the fact she was six months pregnant, and there could be more chemistry between her and Andy Lau.The scene stealer is the refreshing China actress Zhang Jingchu who breathes an air of vulnerability and frenzy as a woman forced by circumstances. We should expect more from her as she moves on to a Hollywood in Rush Hour 3. Louis Kook, in stained teeth and tattered clothes, changes his image successfully playing her abusive husband.Starting off slowly, the movie picks up after moving to the Golden Triangle, where audience are treated to the eye-opening sight of heroin plantations and produce."Protégé" may not be adrenalin pumping or mass audience entertainment, as director Derek Yee probably wanted to weave in a social message in a subtle and restrained manner. The last scene was enough for me to understand the story, though you wished he had pushed the movie forward a little more.

Knock it down 50 million.. Double POST!

Full Metal Jacket

http://www.veoh.com/videos/v307877ZY3TzJch

Whoaa... totally loved this film! hahaha.. was rated one of the top war movies ever... here's really lengthy review from imdb.com, which most of ya'll won't bother to read.

I like Kubrick's stuff. Generally any movie he directed was several notches, in quality terms, above any other director (particularly those working nowdays). Does `Full Metal Jacket' continue to show the mastermind behind `2001', `The Shining' and `Dr. Strangelove'? Yup, it does.As plots go. there isn't much here. I don't particularly care because the script makes up for it. `Full Metal Jacket' is very much a movie of two halves - the first half dealing with a group of conscripts in training at military camp and the hardships they endure under their `hard-as-nails' instructor. The second half is about their exploits in Vietnam itself. Fights? In 'Nam? Haven't we seen all that before? Yes, but rarely with such an experienced hand at work. And it's the camp scenes that are so wonderful.Gustav Hasford et. Al. have produced an excellent script, particularly for the opening hour. There's barely a moment's pause before you're thrown into the screaming face of Sergeant Hartman. He's hurling abuse at his new recruits with lines so forceful and sharp they'll have you gasping in shock while simultaneously laughing in incredulity. It's the way the script runs in without a pause for breath that helps so wonderfully - and the fact that it's so powerful. It's never just about one-liners from a sergeant, it's also telling a story about how humans work under these conditions. The first half is about how they suffer under their own at home (and very well told it is too), the second half about the human condition under the duress of war. It's an interesting comparison, and a tale well told. The battle may lack some sort of overall context or resolution, but then I feel that's in keeping with the movie - it's about the individual, and not the war, and such elements cannot be easily quantified. All the characters have a grounded `real world' feel to them, due to both the material and the versatility of the actors. R. Lee Emery is viciously delightful as the manic Sergeant Hartman, while managing to add occasional touches of humanity and a `this is for your own good' attitude through subtle gestures. Matthew Modine is the amiable lead, Private Joker, and as such balances the hard and soft edges admirably (if not spectacularly). The other stand out though is Vincent D'Onofrio as Private Gomer Pyle, the recruit picked upon by Hartman and the other cadets. There's a wonderful innocence about him in the beginning, which transforms into a frightening hardening of his soul later on. The evil/beyond-hope look he gives later on (anyone who has seen the movie will know the one I mean), remains as the most frightening look I've ever seen depicted onscreen. All in all the cast accredit themselves well here. And so to the direction. It's Kubrick. It's good. Once more there's excellent cinematography - check out the haunting, almost claustrophobic landscapes of Vietnam. There's some lovely use of filters (that haunting blue). There's a brilliant subtle score, that's eerie when used, but never intrusive. There's a very good command of pace - the viewer is never left idle or bored, and the story (particularly in the tremendous first half) flows along smoothly. Great touches abound throughout - check out the many examples, such as the opening scene of Hartman marching right up to the recruits (and to the camera), spitting and screaming vindictive comments, almost as if at the viewer. Some may criticise the almost disconnected feeling you have in the battle scenes towards the end, but I found their stillness, their quietness, and raw power, far more effective than the flash-bang wizardry employed in tripe such as `We Were Heroes'. I can blather on about Kubrick for ages. so I'll stop now.Is `Full Metal Jacket' perfect? Not quite because of the `two halves' syndrome. Although they do contrast and complement one another, the first half is very much the stronger half. The second feels weaker against it. In and of itself the second half would normally be regarded well, but it doesn't have the visceral power that the first does. I love both bits, but I do love one bit more. This makes the movie suffer just a little. There's so much to like here though that I can't criticise too much - and so much to cherish (especially in the lines delved out). Once more the main man succeeds. Definetely worth seeing. 9/10.

Gladiator (chimpzzz, can u inclue the title somewhere in ur posts???)

In Gladiator, victorious general Maximus Decimus Pubertus has been named keeper of Rome and its empire by dying emperor Marcus Stupidus Aurelius, so that rule might pass from the Caesars back to the people and Senate. Marcus' neglected and power-hungry son, Commodus (singer of the very popular song, Easy) , has other ideas, however. Escaping an ordered execution, Maximus hurries back to his home in Spain, too late to save his wife and son from the same order. Taken into slavery and trained as a gladiator by Proximo, Maximus lives only that he might someday take his revenge and fulfill the dying wish of his emperor. The time soon comes when Proximo's troupe (Cirque de Soliel) is called to Rome to participate in a marathon of gladiator games held at the behest of the new emperor, Commodus. Once in Rome, Maximus wastes no time in making his presence known, and is soon involved in a plot to overthrow the emperor with his former-love Lucilla Ballus (who also played Lucy in Everyone Loves Lucy), Commodus' sister, after whom he lusts, and also the widowed mother of Lucius, heir to the empire after his uncle, and democratic-minded senator, Oscar the Gracchus.

Movies... for the patient

Hey hey, check dis one out. This fella uploads quite a few movies... and quite regularly. He specialises in Asian kung fu flicks (Wong Fei Hong, The Evil Cult anyoneee?? Magic Stance!) and has some other ang-moh shows too (Smoking Aces, Ghost Rider). The catch is that he breaks the shows up into upload friendly sizes. This just means you have to open a few tabs or windows to allow simultaneous streams.

but quality's quite good and daily motion has superb bandwidth! So no worries people! Watch away.

Nothing smells better than ???

Author Patrick Suskind enjoys a career shrouded in Salinger-esque mystery. Suskind’s best-selling novel PERFUME was coveted by Hollywood for many years, and finally makes it to the screen in this production helmed by Tom Tykwer (RUN LOLA RUN). The film stays remarkably faithful to the author’s vision, perfectly summoning up the brooding ominousness of small-town life in 18th-century France, and getting the casting of its central character, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille (Ben Whishaw), exactly right. Grenouille is an orphan whose sense of smell is extraordinarily acute. He impresses master perfumer Baldini (Dustin Hoffman) enough to work for him, and this sets Grenouille off on an epic quest to find the perfect scent. When he discovers that killing young women and bottling their essence is the only way he can achieve his dream, Grenouille is soon a wanted man with multiple murders to his name. However, when it comes to making one last kill--namely the attractive redhead Laura (Rachel Hurd-Wood)--the young perfumer may have met his match in her overprotective father, Richis (Alan Rickman).Tykwer’s film is an impressive achievement, not least because the subject of scent and the cinematic medium were always going to make uneasy bedfellows. Couple that with the weight of expectation caused by the millions of readers who have delighted in Suskind’s words, and it needed a brave director to take on such a project. Whishaw is a revelation in his first major screen appearance, and Tykwer made a wise choice in bringing in some older heads (Rickman, Hoffman) to support the younger actor. Visually, the film is stunning, and cinematographer Frank Griebe clearly worked hard to bring Suskind and Tykwer’s visions to life. But ultimately this is an ensemble piece, with cast and crew all pulling together to create a film that simmers with a hushed menace throughout.

Where do I get my music now? Cd's???? PFffffft.

Rite. Leave it to us to find new sources. These days, P2P agents are a little risky and moving to download the whole album thru torrents is just..... slow.

There's a new method in town. and he's asking fer your name. Here's a step by step walkthru on how to keep on "multiply"-ing ur music collection. wah, that was a bad one... hahahaha.. finger food!

1) Go to www.multiply.com
2) Set up an account.
3) Go to the "search" function
4) Search for the artist, under "music"
5) click on the various links, which will bring thee to user webpages, where they upload music.

you should be able to get some results. Its not fool-proof, but it works. And its.... kinda legal. hahahaha..
